AN UPDATE ON OUR FUNDRAISING CHARITIES

Thursday 15th May 2025

When Mike set off on the Pegasus Round, he planned to give 10% of all donations to the RNLI, in recognition of the incredible work they do keeping people safe at sea. Since departing, he has been advised that the RNLI require a comprehensive risk assessment and safety management plan before they can approve and register a fundraising event.

Naturally, and as you would expect, Mike has given significant thought to the risks he may encounter on his expedition and how he can best manage them. However, he was unable to put this into a formal document once he had already set off. Regrettably, without this information, the RNLI cannot approve Pegasus Round as a fundraising event and has asked him to remove references to them from fundraising material.

Mike fully understands and respects the RNLI’s need to ensure that people do not undertake high-level water-based activities without properly assessing the dangers involved. Given the nature of the wonderful work they do, he appreciates that the RNLI do not wish to associate itself with activities unless they are confident that safety issues have been carefully and thoroughly thought through.

As a result, from 15th May 2025, all fundraising and donations will go to Support Our Paras only and be made via the JustGiving platform. As initially intended, 10% of all funds raised, up to and including 15th May, will be donated to the RNLI via the GiveWheel platform.
